Built for Distance
& Mid-Distance Athletes
Whether you're chasing a PR, trying to earn a varsity spot, or eyeing college recruitment — private coaching gives you the edge your team practices can't.
Build the strength to run two hard laps without fading in the final 200. We train both the speed and the aerobic engine.
The mile demands perfect pacing, mental toughness, and a ferocious kick. We'll sharpen all three.
Patience, grit, and race-day strategy separate good from great. We build the engine and the race plan.
Cross country fitness translates directly to track season. Train year-round and arrive in peak form.
What Private
Coaching Looks Like
We start by identifying exactly what's costing you seconds — whether it's arm carry, overstriding, hip drop, or cadence. Small form corrections produce big time drops.
Generic training plans weren't written for you. We build workouts around your current fitness, race schedule, and target time — then adjust weekly based on how you respond.
Most high school runners get hurt from doing too much, too fast. We layer in the strength work that builds durability — so you make it to championship season healthy.
Knowing how to run a race is half the battle. We'll dial in your splits, teach you how to respond to surges, and build the mental habits of a competitor who finishes strong.
Coaching doesn't end when the workout does. Reach Coach Francisco by text or email anytime — whether it's a question about your warmup or nerves before a big meet.
Coach Francisco Gomez
Francisco has coached runners at every level — from high school and junior college to the collegiate level — giving him a rare depth of perspective on what it takes to develop athletes at every stage. Today he is fully dedicated to Running Fit Lab, bringing that experience directly to Bay Area athletes.
His certifications from RRCA and USATF ensure every training plan is grounded in proven sports science — and his background as a competitive runner means he knows exactly what it takes to race well, not just train well.
"Every athlete I coach gets a plan built around who they actually are — not a template. Speed is something we develop together, one honest workout at a time."Train with Coach Francisco
Athletes Who Put in the Work
"Coach Francisco taught me how to actually race the 1600 — not just run it. Learning to read the pack and time my kick dropped me from 4:58 to 4:41 in one season."
Tyler R. High School Athlete · 1600m"I came in thinking I just needed faster workouts. Coach showed me my form was costing me 10 seconds a lap. Best investment my family made in my running career."
Aaliyah M. High School Athlete · 800m / XC"After working with Coach Francisco, I earned a partial scholarship to run cross country at a Division II school. He helped me with my times and connected me with the recruiting process."
Marcus T. High School Athlete · XC / 3200m"I was stuck at the same 3200 time for two years. Coach completely changed my training variety — hill work, tempo runs, drills I'd never done — and I finally broke through."
Sofia L. High School Athlete · 3200m"The race strategy sessions alone were worth it. I used to go out too fast and die. Now I know exactly how to run every split and I finished my junior XC season with a 30-second PR."

Connect with Coach FranciscoCommon Questions
Yes. A private running coach works with your athlete on the specific things team practice can't address individually — running form, race strategy, pacing, and event-specific speed development. Most high school athletes see measurable improvement in form within the first 1–2 sessions, and meaningful time drops within 4–8 weeks of consistent private coaching.
Absolutely. Private coaching is designed to complement your school team training, not replace it. Coach Francisco works around your athlete's practice and meet schedule, focusing on the individual details — form correction, race tactics, and personalized speed work — that team coaches simply don't have time to address one-on-one.
Yes. Coach Francisco has experience preparing high school athletes for college recruitment — both through performance training to hit qualifying times and through guidance on the recruiting process itself. Our 8-session package specifically includes college recruitment guidance to help athletes understand how to connect with college coaches and present themselves effectively.
